Shays's Rebellion led people to strongly desire a new system of government to be outlined in the upcoming assembly, the Constitutional Convention. Overview
In the 1780s, people saw the weaknesses of the government under the Articles of Confederation yet took little action to change and strengthen the way the United States were governed. But soon, Shays's Rebellion began and became the driving force that changed peoples' opinions toward the need for a new system of government. Shays’s rebellion showed the vital weakness that the Articles of Confederation presented; limited federal power. Because Shays’s Rebellion revealed to people the weakness of federal government, the Constitutional Convention was assembled and the course of history forever changed due to the subsequent creation of the Constitution.
